Lets Cover the Cover
The creation of a cover or dust jacket for your book is a critical process. The cover should be striking to gain the attention of potential purchasers of the book, attractive to hold their attention, and representative of the book’s content and approach.
Morgan James maintains a full-time graphic arts department for designing and producing covers. To assist our art people in creating the most effective cover possible, we ask that you give serious consideration to how your cover might look. Keep in mind that the cover must be designed early if it is to be included in our catalog and other prepublication marketing campaigns. It’s never too early to discuss your cover with your author relations manager. If you wish to suggest a particular drawing or photograph for use as front cover art, please do so as soon as the idea occurs to you.
Even if you have only a general idea of what might constitute an effective cover, we want to hear it. As the author, you know your book’s content and audience better than anyone else, and your input in producing the best cover possible is very important. We will certainly consider all your suggestions.
Now one thing our Entrepreneurial Vision Mastermind™ call will help you with is the development of your free bonus.
The free bonus is the legal bribe to push them over the edge into purchasing the book. It could be one or more items. It could be tools you’ve used to make the book more useful. It could be “The edgy chapters the publisher wouldn’t let you include”. The idea is to have something that compliments the book, has value beyond the books retail price and compelling enough that the reader can’t live without.
Why? Because most books are bought anonymously without you ever knowing who they are. This is a big deal because this is your target audience. This is who you want to have in your database to market to for the rest of your life. This is your next JV partner. Without having a method of capturing the buyers name you have only sold a $14 dollar book instead of built a business around the needs for your target audience.
Our Guerrilla Marketing series offers 2 free months to the Guerrilla Marketing Association, a $99 value. It brings the reader straight into the author’s inner circle. You need to do the same thing.
