Borders and B&N Partner with ShopRunner

With Wal-Mart offering free shipping through the holidays, it’s clear that retailers are trying to remove potential impediments to online shopping this holiday season. Both Borders and Barnes & Noble will also provide free two-day shipping, but through ShopRunner.

The new membership program charges consumers an annual fee of $79, equal to Amazon Prime, and has a free 30-day trial period currently in place. ShopRunner has 21 participating stores to date, which range from PetSmart to Toys R Us and RadioShack. Another 31 will be onboard shortly.

Borders is already up and running with ShopRunner; Barnes & Noble is “coming soon.”
