World-Class Listeners
Entrepreneurial authors are exceptional listeners. They listen to their readers, to their mentors, to their friends, and to their kids. They listen to their parents and certainly to their teachers. They also listen to their bodies, their inner voice, the voice of reason. They never allow the past to dictate the future. In the past world of work, balance had no part, just as the idea of having enough time was not appreciated until the late 1980s. Although the idea of balance is finally on the forefront of the American mind, it is still a clouded notion, still a new concept, still considered an unattainable dream to many people. We believe that only two factors are required to achieve balance: to imagine it, and then to commit to it. Imagining it can be harder than committing to it. Once visualized, it is a relative cinch to commit to it.
