Amazon Upgrades Kindle iPhone App

kindleappAmazon is paying close attention to Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch. In what appears to be a response to demand for the unique functionality of the Apple devices, Amazon just announced an upgrade to its Kindle for iPhone app that provides more of the expected and popular functionality. Amazon’s Kindle for iPhone version 1.1 will now allow readers to view titles in the landscape mode, pinch-zoom images, change backgrounds for easier reading and use a flick or a tap to turn the virtual pages.

Amazon’s Kindle for iPhone provides access to Amazon’s 275,000+ Kindle titles for anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch, including making purchases direct to the Apple app. Best of all, if the Kindle is not in your budget, Amazon indicates that no Kindle is required. If you do have a Kindle, the new app automatically synchronizes your last page read between devices with Amazon Whispersync. Oh yeah, did I mention the app is free? Grab yours here.
